2022 Men Of The Green Machine – Oliver Gladstone

Please welcome Oliver Gladstone to the 2022 Cavaliers!

Oliver is from Marietta, Georgia, and is a 4th year student at Kennesaw State University studying Interactive Design.  Oliver decided to audition with the Cavaliers after his friend Gino Francia (a former Cavalier) told him about DCI.  This is Oliver’s first and last (age out) year doing DCI, and so far he loves it!

Music education starts early in the public schools where we live.  Oliver learned about music in Music Class in Elementary School, he learned to play the Recorder, and joined Chorus/Honors Chorus.

Oliver joined the Band in Middle School and played Flute all three years.  Marching Band, Concert Band, and Music Theory were Oliver’s passions in High School.  Throughout the four years, he played Flute, Mellophone, and French Horn.  The High School Marching Band was extremely competitive, but Oliver says it doesn’t come close in comparison with marching with the Cavaliers.

Oliver was an enthusiastic volunteer for Band, a Band Section Leader, won the Band’s Distinguished Service Award, and also a Band Scholarship to attend college.  Music has provided both solace and joy for Oliver during life’s ups and downs.  Oliver has continued with both Marching Band and Concert Band at Kennesaw State University, and was awarded “Best Marcher” in Fall 2020 amongst 200 participants.

Outside of music, Oliver enjoys running the annual Peachtree Road Race and Georgia Tech Pi Mile races, enjoyed Swim Team and Coaching from ages 5-18, and took the Boy Scout High Adventure Camp of “Sea Base” sailing for a week off the Florida Keys.  Other hobbies include building with Legos, rowing and kayaking, and playing Dungeons & Dragons with his college band friends.  Interesting factoids about Oliver is that he is half English (Dad a West Ham United fan), his eyes are slightly different colors (one eye blue/green, the other green/blue), and he has learned to drive his Dad’s 1999 Miata which is a manual transmission.

Welcome to the 2022 Green Machine, Oliver!
