2022 Men Of The Green Machine- Tanner Scholes

Please welcome 1st year trumpet, Tanner Scholes, to the 2022 Cavaliers!

The summer before Tanner’s freshman year, one of his band directors had the great idea that the entire band should go see the DCI Midwest Championship in St. Louis. Tanner attended and was hooked. He saw The Cavaliers in both 2018 and at another live performance in 2019 and they obviously made an impression. He auditioned for three corps this year but felt drawn to The Cavaliers as he felt welcomed by both staff and other members. He appreciated the way feedback was presented to him and says the staff made him feel like he belonged immediately.

Tanner has been very active in band throughout his middle school and high school career. If it is band related, he’s been involved. He’s won several awards and had the honor of being the marching band’s featured soloist (on flugelhorn) this year-his senior year; he even won a “best soloist” award.

Tanner purchased a 1978 Lincoln Continental Mark V which he worked on himself (with some help from his father). Working on his car led him to officially decide that this is what he wants to do…he will be attending State Technical College of Missouri in the fall as part of their General Automotive program. He also loves to fish, so he was excited to learn that State Tech has fishing ponds on campus.

Tanner is really looking forward to being a part of The Cavaliers this summer!

Welcome to the Cavaliers, Tanner!
