About last night…

Greetings from Lodi High School in Lodi, California! After the longest drum corps day I think I’ve ever had, I got 6 hours of deep good sleep, have been on a grocery shopping run to Walmart with Jess from the admin team, and had the best (albeit freezing) shower I can ever recall! Heaven!

The Corps is eating a hearty lunch of stir fry over rice with Oreo cookies for dessert. Everyone seems to be in great spirits!

So, the guy that wasn’t going to talk scores is gonna talk scores for a second. But not because of competition but more for analysis.

I don’t know how this will show on your screen but here goes.

Scoring consists of two components on most captions. One score is for the content. Think of it as the judges giving a “degree of  difficulty” to whatever we are TRYING to do. The other is based on execution of how WELL we’re actually doing it. So, for instance… in the column for Music Analysis…the content score is 14.7 and #1  in this sub caption. That means the judges like what we’re trying to do with Musical Analysis the most of these Corps last night. That’s really good news . It acknowledges the complexity of our music book which means we have headroom to improve. Always important.

The corps is headed into sectionals with Ensemble at 1:45. It’s hot today. Staff constantly reminding members to rehydrate.

Another big showdown tonight…these men look hungry to improve!

More from Sacramento!
