Can we talk about last night?

That’s the lay of the land. With three weeks left in the season. I, for one, couldn’t be prouder of the Cavaliers! Watched all of these shows last night and agree with the order of placement.

Here’s some story lines to watch over the next few weeks.

1. Boston Crusaders- “Objects in the mirror are closer than they appear.” This is the finest Boston hornline I can remember. The guard and drums are top flight. I’m just not in love with their show design. That said, they are hungry. They haven’t beaten the Cavaliers head to head in five years. They are going to throw the kitchen sink at making that happen.

2. Santa Clara- go ahead and give them the gold medal. They are that good.

3. Amplification- last night it was clear that Crown and Blue Devils we’re amped to the gills. To the point that from my vantage point on 40-yard line their sound was like an electronic veneer instead of hearing their true horn sound. That said, this may work well for large dome shows. Cavaliers were noticeably a notch below in total volume but the sound was natural. It presents a quandary to our programming team, and glad that this is their concern instead of ours.

3. Crown – I think we’re going to run them down from behind just like we did Bluecoats last year. Just call it a hunch. 😀

Want to close saying I have the utmost respect for ALL these talented performers! Let’s have class no matter how the scores fall. The judges get it right….they aren’t biased. They’ve got an incredibly tough job to do!
