Friday in Vista!

Good morning from Vista,CA! We housed last night AT the show site. Which makes today a much lighter day logistically. Before I get to anything else, I’d like to highlight the work of some of our behind the scenes volunteers.

This is the Uniform crew! They are busy tacking back sleeves on the uniform shirts so our men look “just so” when they compete tonight.

Pictured are Laurie Henry, Tommy Heidebrecht, and their fearless leader Beth Kaiser. Thanks for keeping our men looking top notch!

Below you will see our second to none Medical Team. They tend to our men as if they were their own! We are so lucky to have a top flight team looking after them.

Pictured are Jehrib Cabarlo,Dr. Alan Micco, Mitchell Degrauwe, and Jessica Hamrick. Hats off for your service!

Of course our Cook Truck crew is vital to keeping our men fed with tasty good nutrition.

Here’s today’s lunch crew hard at work led by the food cook general, Ann Miller! Pictured here are Ann Miller, Sammy Newcomb, Denny Campbell, and Alex Micco! Thank you team for your sleepless nights and hard working days.

A final plug for volunteering. This crew is like family, you get to see all the behind the scenes our men undertake daily, AND…did I mention you have a field pass to the best DCI shows?

It’s gorgeous weather here today… 73 degrees, blue skies, and a light breeze. No wonder California corps are so good! They don’t spend half the season roasting in Texas or freezing in Milwaukee! 😀

I can hear my son Davis and Jacob Armstrong doing  their daily trombone work somewhere in this maze of tractor trailers in one ear, our battery in the other, the pit playing straight in front of me, and the metronome for either brass or guard off in the distance. It’s heaven. Because it’s show day.

Blue Devils aren’t in this show tonight. And we go on right behind Santa Clara. Looking for a throw down from our men tonight.

And then…back on the buses and the midnight ride BACK to Palmdale High School.

Probably more later in the day depending on whether I run into anything interesting. Which I normally do.

In the mean time…NO FEAR, CAVALIER! Splooie!
