2019 – By the Numbers with 7 days to go!

Wow, what a show our men put on tonight! SO FREAKING INSPIRING! I’m home by myself and don’t mind admitting that the Ballad just made me bawl. SO VERY BEAUTIFUL! Best Cavaliers Production since Mad World in 2010 and I’m liking it more than that one now. Future is bright.

Okay…now…the numbers…here’s where we are with 7 days. left.

GENERAL EFFECT
GE Visual – we are 5th place but only 0.1 out of 3rd place
GE Music – we are 6th place but only 0.05 out of 3rd place
GE Totalwe are 5th place when the above two are combined and running 0.150 out of 4th place)

VISUAL
Visual Proficiency – we are 5th ( 0.2 out of 4th)
Visual Analysis- we are 5th ( 0.3 out of 4th)
Color Guard – we are 4th (0.10 out of 3rd ) – HELL YES Colorguard! You just keep fighting and getting better! Way to go!
Visual Total – we are 6th ( but a skinny 0.05 out of 5th)

MUSIC
Brass – we are 4th (but a skinny 0.10 from 3rd) – HELL YES Brass! It wasn’t a fluke when you were beating Blue Devils and it isn’t a fluke now!
Music Analysis – we are 6th ( but only 0.4 out of 4th)
Percussion – we are 5th ( and only 0.2 from 4th) – this DOESN’T count the awesome 19.0 you threw up at Chester that got erased due to “Soccer Field Prima Dona Management)
Music Total – We are 5th ( with 0.325 to climb to 4th )

SO WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?  Honestly, in my mind it means we are a solid 5th place 2019 Drum Corps. And that’s awesome considering the competition on the field.

It also means we have some kick-ass instructors on our staff. We are consistent over all captions. Other corps are WINNING Color Guard and are 7th or 8th in Percussion. And that is why we will beat those Corps.

WHAT DID TONIGHT’S SCORE MEAN FOR INDY?

Well…if you read the post in the POTC page yesterday, you probably already know…we needed to beat Boston tonight by more than 1.025 points to flip into the 5th seed at Indy. Didn’t happen…so we enter Indy in the 6-slot. Which we will promptly use to beat Boston ( again) and move to the 5th slot on Friday night. And then it’s all on our boys and their instructors to go hunt down Crown over Friday and Saturday night. It can be done. Because WE did it with the Bluecoats in 2017.

CAN WE MEDAL?

Anything is possible, but I wouldn’t bet a nickel on it. You shouldn’t get emotionally invested in the notion either. It’s a longshot. If it happens, imagine the party in the Lucas Oil Parking Lot!

SHOULD WE BE TICKED THAT WE LOST OUR 92.7  IN CHESTER? WOULDN’T THAT HAVE HELPED TONIGHT?  The answer is no on both counts. It would have been fun to celebrate a 92.7 that night, but look what happened to Boston? They scored a 92.7 Thursday night at their homeshow and lost almost a point of that 48 hours later with a day of rehearsal in between. It was clear to folks that have followed this activity for awhile that Allentown Day 2 was going to be used to “semi-slot” the finalists. I knew it going in, which is why I’m not even remotely upset about our score tonight.

ON TO BUFFALO, AKRON, AND INDY! SEE EVERYONE IN INDY!

( Hope this was helpful! )
